Antique Pottery
This pottery seems to Colorado, the region where it is made. Yes, always being in Colorado Springs today, and the documents resulting value can be obtained by it. I have a collection of pieces from the early days and the last I bought ceramic. However, the pieces are really valuable in the early years now and sometimes can be collected when the seller is not aware of its value.
History
Artus Van Briggle, a potter and artist, came to Colorado Springs in 1899 and began experimenting with clay in the region. He has been teaching in the mixture of clay and glaze and turning it into art. It was also the artist capture the shape, pattern and color. All rooms have a soft glaze and colors are the colors of Colorado, turquoise, green, pink, brown and purple.
Artus descendant of painters Flemish. Born in 1869 in happiness, Ohio, is said to have demonstrated his artistic ability at an early age. He began his studies at Cincinnati and finally, Ceramics Avon apprentice. His mentor in the creation of ceramics was Carl Langenbeck. He spent several years studying art, partly supported by the founder of Rookwood Pottery, where he worked for some time. Rookwood was sent to Paris to study ceramics. In fact, he is best known for the final discovery of the enamel of the Ming dynasty, which had been considered lost for centuries.
Anne Lawrence Gregory Van Briggle
While in Paris, met the love of a fellow American student, Anne Lawrence Gregory. They plan to marry in 1895, however, did not work and have completed their studies in Paris in 1896 and both returned to America, Anne goes to live with her aunt in Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Arthur again worked for Rookwood, where he continued to develop their skills and work on the formula of the varnish dead Ming. Unfortunately, he developed tuberculosis and could not work many hours per week. A friend suggested that her health could improve the climate in Colorado Springs, so he moved to the west.
Anne moved to Colorado Springs 1900 and became an instructor in art at the local high school. She and Arthur developed the logo on most of Van Briggle Pottery, double registered in a square. He built a small factory and the company grew from that. He sold his pottery, about 300 copies in 1901. His reputation grew through the world, and before long was able to find investors and their pottery was erected.
Artus and Anne were married in 1902, Anne became a partner Working as an artist and produced many parts of the principles which today provide the highest prices on the collectors market. Arthur died in 1904, having achieved more in his short life than most artists achieve in life. Anne has taken the responsibility of managing the plant and fulfillment in the work of Artus. A new state of the art plant was built and became operational in 1908.
Anne remarried and moved to Denver in 1923 and the company has experienced a period of turbulence, the new building was finally damaged by fire and flood. However, he was eventually transferred to the Roundhouse left Midland Railroad Administration, which can be accessed today. The pottery is still produced there, and a sample of pottery from different periods in which the principles can be seen. Moreover, Pioneer Museum in the old courthouse in the county of El Paso has the largest collection.

There several reasons collectors love for pottery. It is beautiful and what looks like no other. Even those who collect Rookwood are attracted to her. After all, the foundation of Artus "was there. The colors are extraordinary, and a collector occasionally find one in an antique shop or even a garage sale that turns out to be very valuable. The best way to be sure you are getting an authentic piece of this beautiful pottery is buying a book that shows images and specific information on what is requested. The one I use is written by Richard Sasicki and Josie Fania.

Personally, if I had £ 5000 to be able to pay my mortgage is due next month! This is an excellent idea to create an emergency fund - in the case of a "rainy day" because all the beautiful old grans say. I hate to say but what I do is still an investment - this term is not only for the stock market or "bricks and mortar. "Be very careful if you purchased your treasures .. Especially if they are fragile - you could think ahead and buy a glass case. Also check your insurance to ensure coverage of their purchases. OK - If I had £ 5,000 to invest (especially in today's market) I want to buy Moorcroft Pottery - very attractive and protected against inflation. My first purchase was a vase at a price of 25 pounds 20 years ago - by the time my cat has knocked off the platform a few years ago, I was unable to replace less than 100 pounds. Why can not miss this on Ebay? You can also increase its stock of visiting curio shops quaint on the go, the sales start or stir ... Actually bought Moorcroft plate of our local department store Debenhams year for £ 1 - with lots of odd China (cat compensates accident hope !!)... Good relations with his investment - and enjoy ...
